My Class Mag began with a simple idea for an educational project – engage students and help them learn Spanish with a classroom magazine that could be shared with an audience. The magazine was built and developed in Google Slides and every semester it got a little bit better.
Then we joined the Open movement. Suddenly the possibilities seemed endless. What if world language educators had a magazine tool to use right away with their students? What if that same tool could be modified and improved by a network of professionals doing the actual work of facilitating experiences for language acquisition? Thus My Class Mag was born.
We’re leveraging Open Educational Practices to unlock the potential of class magazines for world languages by sharing our template openly with a growing network of world language educators. Our mission is to advance language learning and digital literacy by designing, curating, and openly sharing magazines for students and educators.
